Types of fabric I used

  • Bag Obi silk fabric which is rather a heavy weight silk
  • Cushion Japanese hemp fabric slightly open weave
  • Document box and file folder Fine silk fabric
  • Stool Cotton fabric

Design “Harvest Moon_01” This design was stitched on Japanese hemp which I purchased while in Japan, the fabric is very similar to a good quality linen fabric with a slightly open weave. I stitched at the base of the cushion lines of white thread using a straight stitch

I stitched “Harvest Moon_05” on an Obi fabric which is a very heavy silk fabric; I then used an Obi sash cord for the handle of the bag which I had purchased while in Japan

I stitched “Harvest Moon_01” Just using 2 colours on a cotton fabric which is another way of using the designs, I stitched this out to make a lovely little stool

the document box and folder I pressed the silk down and glued the designs and then hot glued a small rope around the design and where the rope met I put a little black bow and then glued a little glass bead in the centre of the bow
